Where can I find that information?
Working here at Eagle America one question I hear more than any other is" where can I get that information"? I hear it in our outlet store, I hear it on the phones and I see it in emails. No matter what the woodworker is trying to do, setting up dust collection, looking for band saw accessories, questions about shaper cutters, any woodworking accessories that is new to a woodworker them we get questions about that item. Another thing we hear a lot of is, I am interested in one of the Kreg pocket hole jigs which one should I get? Or I am building some cabinets which set of stile and rail bits should I use? Which one of your router bit sets is the best for me? We do our best to answer all the questions we receive within 24 hours.
Did you know we have tech support available where we will take your question sent to us via email to us at tech@eagleamerica.com and pass it to our one of our woodworkers that we have on staff?
Don't they look knowledgeable!
Well back to the question, where can I get this information?
You can find just about anything...
....ON THE INTERNET!
There are thousands of website dedicated to woodworking. Places where you can ask questions of your peers or ask professionals like The Wood Whisperer's website.
You can find just about anything you need right here. They have a community where you can access blogs and forums where you can ask questions that will be answered by many people that are just woodworkers like you that want to help their experience is there to help you. Also in their community they have photos of the member's projects. Not to mention many videos that Marc Spagnuolo (The Wood Whisper) does showing how to do certain things or projects start to finish. You can also find Marc's work on You tube talk about a video library that you don't have to buy! You can also find many different woodworking groups that have joined the community, maybe you belong in one of these groups? Do you?
And of coarse what true Wood Whisperer member doesn’t have a Wood Whisperer hat and T-shirt. Well don’t worry you can get these items and more at the store. I should get a free t-shirt for this blog don’t you think?
There is a live chat room where you can discuss your project or anything woodworking related. You can even watch projects being made because there are dozens of people/workshops that stream live video to the site for you to watch.
This is just one site of the thousands of woodworking sites out there on the world wide web. So if you have a specific question maybe we can help. Or if you are looking for a place to go to learn and pick up some tricks of the trade and meet some woodworkers maybe The Wood Whisperers website is where you want to go.
No matter what you are looking for, the Internet can be the best tool in your workshop.
A Woodworker in Need of Your Help
If you have been reading our blog for any length of time you may have read the blog about Duane Moore. If you have not well let me tell you a little about Duane. Duane is a woodworker fighting cancer, we first heard about Duane when Marc Spagnuolo - a.k.a the Wood Whisperer asked us to get involved with his Woodworkers Fighting Cancer campaign. Duane has been raising money for cancer research since he was diagnosed and with your help he has been able to raise thousands of dollars for cancer research. You can find out more information about Duane and Woodworkers Fighting Cancer at woodworkersfightingcancer.com. This is something many of us really rallied behind and are hopeful that one day this disease will be beaten.
Now Duane is working on helping himself and you can help. You can find more about Duane's fight to have one last dream realized. "My dream is to take what may be my last summer alive off, and spend it with my family building memories and enjoying each other."
ForeverFighting.com is a site that Duane set up to hopefully allow this to happen, it also tells his story. There are also many links that can help you learn more about the disease that Duane and probably someone you know is battling.
Duane's words:
"Reach Out and Never Fight it Alone. By Sharing Our Journey We Can Only Help Others in Need"
There is also a benefit being held on 6/26/10 so if you are in Columbus, Ohio and want to stop in and help the cause AND have a great time, stop in at the:
Garden Inn
6091Cleveland Ave
Columbus Oh 43231
From Duane and Eagle America, thank you for your support of a fellow woodworker.
Woodworkers Fighting Cancer
Follow this link woodworkersfightingcancer.com to watch a video where you will be introduced to Duane, a woodworker that is fighting cancer. In talking with Duane, Marc came up with the idea of the "Build Guild". For every member of his Wood Whisperer Guild, of which Duane is a member, that builds the shaker table he will donate $5 to the American Cancer Society. We have joined Marc and will make a corporate dontation as well. As you will see in the video, Marc and his wife Nicole actually jumped on a plane and flew to Ohio to give Duane some one-on-one instruction with his woodworking tools and woodworking accessories as well.
Duane recenlty sent us an email thanking us for our support and we let him know that we are just a part of the large woodworking community that has taken up the same cause. We wish Duane and his family nothing but the best going forward. Would you like to join the cause? If so, click on the image below.
Students of Woodworking
Wow! Looking over some of our recent blog posts I can tie a couple together, clocks and students.
One of the best parts of what I do here at Eagle America is talking to you, the customer.
In my time being the Customer Service Manager I must have spoken to thousands of our customers, I may have even spoken with you! It is always great to hear from people like Mr. Hazard, a high school woodshop instructor in California.
I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to connect with him and donate some Woodworking Tools, Woodworking Accessories and Woodworking Router Bits to his woodshop over the last couple of years.
Mr. Hazard has sent me some photos of his students and some of the projects that they are making during this school year.
Here you can see a couple of mission clocks his students are making. You can see there is quite a bit of time and effort that the students are putting into these projects. They look great!
Here you see a student in his furniture making class working on her Pedestal table. I think she could have used one of our woodworking clamps to hold this a little more steady.
It is great to see the art of woodworking being passed down to the next generation, keep up the great work Mr. Hazard! I am sure we will be seeing more of his students great work in the future.
