Do you have a selection of Spiral Router Bits in your collection of router bits? If you answered "No" then you need to take a closer look at what these can do for you. They truly are the MVP's of any bit collection, bits that can be used on almost any project and ones that get the job done right the first time.
Woodworking router bits tend to focus on two main areas - form (i.e. - decorative accents) or function (i.e. - joinery applications, etc.). Spiral bits definitely fall in the function category which is often overlooked, as opposed to something a bit more flashy such as popular ogee router bits which worry more about form and the decorative look/feel of a project. People tend to stick to their guns with function bits and only keep the basics around, choosing to expand their collection of bits with many different decorative bits. I can't say I disagree with that line of thought...but without function the form would be lost! Dollar for dollar a Spiral bit should be in your collection right next to your most trusty straight bit.

Let me tell you a bit more (no pun intended!) about our standard Solid Carbide Spiral Bits. They combine effective chip removal with a continuous shearing action cut not obtained from a standard straight bit. You'll get smoother cutting action with better results.
Up-cut Spiral Bits provide faster cutting while they pull chips up and out of the work or towards the router. They are excellent bits to use when cutting material in a table mounted router and are ideal for freehand applications such as mortise and tenon, grooving, slotting or routing deep blind holes.
Down-cut Spiral Bits cut slower and push chips away from the router to eliminate top surface splintering. Use these for pattern cutting or when going completely through the board as it allows clear vision of the cutting line. Down-cuts are ideal for fine finish work such as veneers, laminates, inlays and repairs because they prevent upper edge tear outs. You can also use Down-cuts for trimming and sizing. As with most Eagle router bits, these are Made in the USA. They are available both as router bit sets or individually.
The standard spirals mentioned above are our most popular but we also have some other versions. You can also find Compression up & Down Spirals as well as Solid Carbide Spiral Flush Trim bits by clicking here.
